The Opera Garnier is the old Paris Opera House, it was designed by Charles Garnier an illustrious architect who nevertheless was unknown at the time. One finds his bust when walking past the opera by the left hand side on Rue Auber. Let's not forget the double ramp leading to the emperor's pavilion, it was reserved for Napoleon III and was designed to protect him from assassination attempts.

The Cardo Maximus de Lutèce or Rue St Jacques is over 2 000 years old and has not moved an inch since the Gallo-Roman era. It crosses the Seine and runs alongside the right bank. It is now known as the Rue St Martin heading North and to the South it links into Rue St Orléans.

The Hotel Beauvais is located at 68 rue François Miron, Louis XIV escorted by Marie Thérèse of Austria came here to greet his mother, Anne d'Autriche, at its balcony in 1660.
